About Femme or Foe

Femme or Foe is a radio documentary produced by BAMMJ student Lily Coleman.

It questions whether feminism is the most successful movement to bring about gender equality. The documentary has a particular focus on sexual assault, rape and other forms sexual violence and looks at the role of both women's and men's gender equality groups.

TARGET STATION:

The documentary is produced as part of Radio 5 Live's Breakfast show because they discuss topical, news stories that are information led, hard-hitting and offer insightful interview clips as part of their investigative journalism. I believe that the issue of gender equality is therefore suited to this, in particular due to the fact that funding to refuge centres of abuse victims has been cut by Theresa May in the last month, and also that feminism has been named the word of 2017 by Merriam-Webster dictionary. This debate is therefore topical, newsworthy, and engaging.

AIMS:

Femme Or Foe aims to find out whether feminism is effective in its campaigning for gender equality, particularly focusing on the relationship between men and feminism.
